Focusing on the impact of changing precipitation patterns in the context of climate change, this thesis utilizes the longest tree-ring isotope chronologies from European larch in the Swiss Alps to explore historical hydrological shifts. It aims to identify the primary climate signals in carbon and oxygen isotopes, evaluate biological biases, and reconstruct long-term hydro-climate variability. The research highlights the significance of precipitation variability on both human well-being and ecosystem dynamics, emphasizing its effects beyond temperature increases.
