This first volume of the TERRALOG series, designed to cover all reptile and amphibian species and subspecies, shows for the first time all recognized, and even many yet not described, turtle and tortoise species or subspecies inhabiting Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Wherever possible, not just a single specimen is shown, in addition, sexual dimorphism, carapace and plastron patterns, photos of mating, oviposition, hatching, and of course typical habitats are presented. With each species you will find a description in symbols of its individual needs for captive husbandry. This TERRALOG debut volume with a total of 450 color photos provides a unique photographic reference for scientists as well as for hobbyists, and a fascinating synopsis of the beauty of turtles and tortoises. Four more volumes will be published in the years to come.
