Más información sobre el libro
The Epic of Gilgamesh is a Sumerian epic cycle, written in cuneiform on clay tablets, dating back approximately 4500 years to between 2600 BC and 2500 BC. It encompasses all writings concerning the exploits of the mythical king of Uruk and is considered the most important of the Babylonian and Assyrian mythological texts that have survived to this day. The work is the highest poetic composition of the ancient Near East and is most akin to modern sentiment: friendship, pain, death, pessimism, and the quest for immortality are the themes of this poem, in which mythological material serves to express the most secret and enduring human anxieties.
