This book explores the contribution of syntactic analysis to the machine translation (MT) between related languages and it also attempts to explore the limits of shallow MT methods. We focus on one group of languages, the Balto-Slavic language family, and one MT architecture, namely hybrid systems with prevalently rule-based modules.
