Más información sobre el libro

Born in Germany to aristocratic parents, Sybille Bedford's life mirrored the tumult of the twentieth century, encompassing war, love, trauma, and the drive to write. Openly gay, she once expressed a desire to have written more and loved less, acknowledging the challenge of balancing both pursuits. In her forties, she published her breakthrough novel, A Legacy, and continued to create remarkable novels, memoirs, and travel books into her nineties. After her father's death at fourteen and her mother's struggle with morphine addiction, Bedford sought independence and found inspiration in Aldous Huxley, who became a close friend and mentor. Her time spent with Huxley in the south of France was among her happiest, despite her struggles to find her voice as a writer. These experiences ultimately informed Jigsaw: An Unsentimental Education, her acclaimed work shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1989. A bon viveur with a passion for French wine and cuisine, Bedford traveled extensively across Germany, France, England, Italy, and the United States, always ready to capture her observations. With deep friendships and a fierce dedication to writing, she forged a unique path in both her life and her art.
