Más información sobre el libro

Practical Dementia Care is an evidence-based approach to the treatment and management of patients with dementia from the time of diagnosis to the end of life. The book includes sections on epidemiology, definitions, and a discussion of the most common causes of dementia, such as Alzheimerdisease. The major emphasis of the book is on the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of dementia. Several chapters discuss in detail available disease and symptom therapies for dementia patients. Emphasis is also placed on the provision of comprehensive supportive care of dementia patients andtheir caregivers. Two chapters are dedicated to the management of common behavior disorders, such as aggression and depression, and to the management of functional problems, such as bathing and dressing. Chapters on ethical issues, care of terminal dementia patients, and genetics, and a glossary ofterms round off the book. This book was written for clinicians of many disciplines, including physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, and others who care for patients with dementia in almost any setting, including long-term care.
