Structural Materials and Engineering Series - 19: Ultra-High Performance Concrete and Nanotechnology in Construction

Más información sobre el libro

Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) represents a significant advancement in concrete technology, boasting a compressive strength exceeding 200 MPa and enhanced durability. This high-performance material enables the construction of sustainable, economically viable buildings with exceptionally slim designs. Its remarkable strength and ductility make it ideal for applications such as bridge decks, storage halls, thin-wall shell structures, and heavily loaded columns. Additionally, UHPC's exceptional resistance to various forms of corrosion opens new avenues for its use in areas previously deemed unsuitable for concrete. However, leveraging its superior properties necessitates specialized knowledge in production, construction, and design. The 3rd International Symposium on UHPC, held in Kassel from March 7-9, 2012, aimed to foster knowledge exchange among international researchers and engineers, and its proceedings are included in this publication. The symposium was rebranded to HiPerMat, reflecting the influence of nanotechnology and chemistry on high-performance materials in construction. This volume features approximately 120 contributions from diverse research fields impacted by High Performance Materials and UHPC, including material sciences, structural engineering, environmental engineering, nanotechnology, chemistry, architecture, codification, and economics.
