Aethiopistische Forschungen - 59: A Concordance to Psalms in the Ethiopic Version

Más información sobre el libro

This volume is a companion to Francisco da Bassano's edition of the Ethiopic Book of Psalms and represents a first step towards a concordance to the entire Ethiopic Bible. In the absence of a critical edition, the da Bassano represents the best choice for a commonly used text. The relative stability of the Psalms text, the frequency of the Psalms in citations, and the difficulty of identifying Biblical citations without a concordance, all speak to the utilityof this book. The governing principle is ease of use here. Entries are organized alphabetically by base form and present each word in context, along with chapter/verse numbers from both the da Bassano and the NRSV (New Revised Standard Version). The concordance is designed to be used together with WolfLeslau's Comparative Dictionary of Ge'ez, following its root reconstructions, spellings, and numbering system for distinguishing homonyms. In addition, crossreferences and special superscript symbols help the user identify ambiguous forms.
