Alejandro Cartagena captures the essence of Monterrey's suburbs through striking color photographs that reveal the chaos stemming from flawed urban planning. His work serves as a visual commentary on neoliberal economic policies and advocates for responsible development in an ever-evolving landscape. Based in Monterrey, Cartagena explores social, urban, and environmental issues through landscape and portraiture. His internationally exhibited work is part of several prestigious museum collections, including SFMOMA and the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. Karen Irvine, curator and associate director at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, has a background in International Relations and French. Her journey into photography began as a hobby, leading her to pursue an MFA at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Gerardo Montiel Klint, a prominent contemporary photographer from Mexico, transitioned from a BFA in Product Design to photography, studying at the Escuela Activa de Fotografia and Centro de la Imagen. He co-founded the HYDRA platform and has contributed to various advisory boards while his work is featured in global collections, including the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts in Japan.
