Contemporary African diasporic women writers explore the interplay between love and space in the context of globalization's challenges. This study innovatively merges critical love studies with migration and diaspora research, highlighting how black feminist voices emphasize connection and intimacy over alienation. Through analyses of works by Chimamanda Adichie, Zadie Smith, and others, the book reveals a shift towards reconfiguring postcolonial narratives, envisioning new, inhabitable worlds that foster reparative relationships and collective belonging.

      Knowledges – Imaginaries – Media

In a global context where migration is increasingly significant, the representation and interpretation of individual and collective migration experiences in media and culture are under scrutiny. This book delves into the intricate relationship between creative expressions of migration and the knowledge surrounding it, examining how aesthetic practices intertwine with knowledge structures. It addresses three key research questions: First, it investigates how various forms of media—fictional texts, plays, images, films, and autobiographical accounts—mediate knowledge about migration. Second, it explores how specific media approaches and aesthetic practices shape public perceptions and awareness of migratory experiences in a globalized context. Lastly, it considers historical perspectives to compare epistemological approaches to migration across the nineteenth, twentieth, and early twenty-first centuries, assessing their impact on public and critical responses to different forms of (forced) migration. By bringing together distinguished scholars from various disciplines, the book evaluates the possibilities and limitations of different media in reflecting, communicating, and envisioning migration experiences, revealing how these representations contribute to our understanding of migration.
