Výbor z díla jednoho z největších maďarských básníků (1817-1882), který byl pro svou svéráznost a neobyčejnou rozmanitost svého básnického jazyka dosud málo překládán, přináší průřez jeho tvorbou lyrickou a epickou i slavné balady, jejichž náměty Arany první čerpal z domácích pramenů - ze slavných stránek maďarských dějin i z příběhů všedního života.
