Set in the 1930s, the first novella of this collection is a romantic comedy about a traveling salesman. The second takes place in contemporary New Jersey as a real estate entrepreneur reminisces about her youth. Finally, the longest novella moves to the year 2028 in a chilling, post-apocalyptic fable about a 15-year-old girl.
