Gandhara's art uniquely blends Hellenistic influences with early Buddhist themes, marking the first human representations of the Buddha. This exhibition features 82 exquisite statues crafted from Himalayan grey schist and stucco, along with reliefs illustrating Buddhist narratives, enhancing the understanding of this artistic period. The collection, primarily donated by art dealer Imre Schwaiger, showcases the significance of Gandharan art within its historical context and pays tribute to Schwaiger's contributions as a key supporter of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts.
