Żmijewski Artur Libros

Tadeusz Kantor, who lived from 1915 to1990, was one of Poland's most important he painted, created, directed, mounted happenings and founded a key independent theater in Krakow. Along with his own works on paper, objects, photographs and films, The Impossible Theater brings us his descendents, artists of the younger generation, represented by installations, performances and projects. Like Kantor, they cast themselves in roles that call for mediation in the social world.

Publikacja zawiera reprodukcje kilkudziesięciu kolaży Pawła Althamera i Artura Żmijewskiego, a także wiersze, które stały się inspiracją do ich powstania. Prace zostały zestawione z utworami między innymi Czesława i Oskara Miłoszów, Paula Celana, Stanisława Grochowiaka i Rafała Wojaczka. Całości dopełniają krótkie eseje Adama Mazura i Marii Anny Potockiej, przybliżające kontekst powstania prac.

Der diesjährige Preisträger des bisher dritten The Vincent van Gogh Biannual Award for Contemporary Art in Europe ist Pawel Althamer, der 1997 Teilnehmer an der documenta X und 2003 der Biennale Venedig war. Der Künstler (* 1967 in Warschau) arbeitet in einer Vielzahl von Medien, die von kleinen, kaum auffallende Eingriffen in Alltagssituationen bis hin zu groß angelegten Performances reichen: Aufsehen erregte er mit einer Aktion in deren Kontext der Künstler in einem Baumhaus gegenüber der Foksal Gallery Foundation lebte (2001-2002). Die menschliche Figur spielt eine zentrale Rolle im skulpturalen Werk von Pawel Althamer - häufig in Form eines Selbstbildnisses, das in einer Vielzahl organischer Materialien ausgeführt wird. Bekannt geworden sind auch acht kurze Porträtfilme mit Titeln wie Peyote oder LSD, die Artur Zmijewski 2003 und 2004 gefilmt hat und Althamer unter dem Einfluss von verschiedenen Drogen zeigen. In ihnen wird die Intensität dieser Erfahrung deutlich und Althamers veränderte Wahrnehmung seiner Umgebung. Ausstellung: Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht 12.9.2004-17.1.2005. Nach Neo Rauch und Peter Doig erhält im Jahr 2004 Pawel Althamer den begehrten Preis The Vincent. Aus diesem Anlass stellt die Publikation das Werk des polnischen Künstlers vor.
