Focusing on environmental health, this research evaluates chromium and cadmium emissions from premium motor spirit and automotive gas oil across Nigeria over a decade. By analyzing fuel consumption and heavy metal content, it estimates annual emissions and assesses per capita and land exposure risks to humans, plants, and animals. The findings indicate significantly high poisoning risks compared to regulatory limits, advocating for stricter regulations on fuel heavy metal content to protect health and the environment. The implications extend to policy and future research globally.

Focusing on the energy values of fuelwoods in Southwestern Nigeria, this study explores their potential for air pollution control. It evaluates the chemical properties of various fuelwood samples, identifies the most energy-rich options, and emphasizes the sustainability of fuelwoods compared to fossil fuels. With abundant forest reserves and arable land, the research highlights the feasibility of using these resources for energy production. The findings offer important insights for policy-making and future renewable energy initiatives both in Nigeria and globally.
