    • Anglický spisovatel Herbert George Wells proslul zejména svými sci-fi romány Válka světů nebo Stroj času, neméně bohatá je ovšem i jeho povídková tvorba. I v ní hrají fantastické motivy významnou roli – například v příbězích o létajícím stroji či tajemné observatoři –, ale Wellsovi nejsou cizí ani povídky s prvky tajemna, dobrodružství a humoru. Vynálezci zázraků jsou prvním z plánovaných tří svazků Wellsových sebraných povídek. První oddíl tohoto svazku s názvem Ukradený bacil a jiné příběhy obsahuje patnáct povídek původně publikovaných v různých periodikách v letech 1893 až 1895, které poprvé jako celek vyšly v knize "The Stolen Bacillus and Other Incidents (1895)". K těmto povídkám připojujeme povídku „Temporální argonauti“ (Chronic Argonauts) z roku 1888. Druhý oddíl tvoří všech sedmnáct povídek ze souboru The Plattner Story and Other (1897), jež samostatně vycházely v letech 1894 až 1896 vyjma povídek „Ztracené dědictví“ (The Lost Inheritance) a „Jak Jane dostala košem“ (The Jilting of Jane), které se prvně objevily právě až v tomto souborném vydání. ""A Poet of the Invisible World" follows a boy named Nouri, born in thirteenth-century Persia, with four ears instead of two. Orphaned as an infant, he's taken into a Sufi order, where he meets an assortment of dervishes and is placed upon a path toward spiritual awakening. As he stumbles from one painful experience to the next, he grows into manhood. Each trial he endures shatters another obstacle within--and leads Nouri on toward transcendence"--

In "The Gospel of Winter," sixteen-year-old Aidan Donovan grapples with his disintegrating family and turns to Adderall and a local priest for solace. When he discovers the priest's troubling affections, he seeks support from new friends. Brendan Kiely's debut explores love's duality as both a weapon and a source of hope.

      The Gospel of Winter
    • In a country teetering on the brink of civil war, two young people meet--sensual, fiercely independent Nadia and gentle, restrained Saeed. They embark on a furtive love affair, thrust into premature intimacy by the unrest roiling their city. When it explodes, turning familiar streets into a patchwork of checkpoints and bomb blasts, they begin to hear whispers about doors--doors that can whisk people far away, if perilously and for a price. As violence and the threat of violence escalate, Nadia and Saeed decide that they no longer have a choice. Leaving their homeland and their old lives behind, they find a door and step through.
