Wie kann man Musik im Kunstkontext ausstellen? Diese Frage stellten sich die Kuratorin Clara Meister, der Künstler und Komponist Ari Benjamin Meyers sowie der Produzent Thomas Mayer, als sie in Berlin 2008 Soundfair – ihr internationales musikkonzeptionelles Ausstellungsprojekt ins Leben riefen. Bis 2013 luden sie internationale Künstler und Musiker ein, neue Arbeiten an der Schnittstelle von Kunst, Musik und Performance zu entwickeln, die das traditionelle Konzept von Konzert oder Ausstellung überschritten. In der Publikation Soundfair – Exhibiting Musicwerden die entstandenen künstlerischen Arbeiten dokumentiert. In einem Gespräch stellen die Soundfair-Gründer Einzel projekte und Serien mit den eingeladenen Künstlern wie Janet Cardiff, Olaf Nicolai oder Douglas Gordon vor. Diese werden nun erstmals in Buchform veröffentlicht. Die Publikation wird durch den Kunstfonds Bonn gefördert.
