The 35-year-old Rudolf is the manager of a car salon. His wife, Malvin, works in a laundromat. They live in an inescapable vicious circle: Hoping for a better life, they develop a sort of tunnel vision. Meanwhile, Rudolf, a graduate student in philosophy, has a passionate love affair with the pretty Vanda. They feel no limits, but with that, they are under all kinds of constraints. And who becomes the young man's fate? For example, Nina, who studies logic and philosophy, but has a secret life as a prostitute, or Mr Alfréd, the owner of a car leasing, who is apparently a decent man, but is actually a fraud and files for bankruptcy under suspicious circumstances. In Böszörmény's novel, everyone has a secret. Within the course of the novel, each person's secret is revealed. Because love, money and power turn many away from themselves. Which is our true self and is it possible to turn back if we've chosen the wrong path? Sometimes we just think we exist.
