Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Lake Powell were unknown to many people, even residents of nearby states, a few years ago. All of that has changed. Now, over 3.1 million people journey to Glen Canyon-Lake Powell each year. They are attracted by the irresistible charm of warm summer days, cool lake water, and spectacular vistas--all ideal for many forms of recreation and outdoor enjoyment. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, located in south central Utah and north central Arizona, was established in 1972. Lake Powell stretches 186 miles behind the dam.
