Cervantes es uno de los grandes escritores españoles de la literatura universal, sin embargo, el personaje detrás del escritor sigue siendo misterioso: el Quijote eclipsó a Cervantes, a él, y a gran parte de su obra. El catálogo, coeditado entre Astiberri y Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), acompaña a la exposición “Miguel EN Cervantes. El retablo de las maravillas”, que han organizado AC/E, la Comunidad de Madrid y el Instituto Cervantes con motivo del 400 aniversario del fallecimiento del escritor en 2016, y concebida y comisariada por el equipo “i con i”. La muestra, que podrá verse en el Museo Casa Natal de Cervantes de Alcalá de Henares a partir del próximo 16 de octubre, y en versión itinerante en sedes internacionales del Instituto Cervantes, pretende mostrar al Miguel de Cervantes más conocido –el que combatió en Lepanto y el que estuvo secuestrado en Argel–, y al más desconocido –el que fue espía, espadachín, recaudador de impuestos, el que trabajó para la Iglesia o el que fue excomulgado en dos ocasiones–. Para tal propósito, dos grandes nombres del cómic español, Miguelanxo Prado y David Rubín, indagan en la vida y en la obra de Cervantes: Prado ilustra la biografía del escritor, dividida en capítulos temáticos, mientras Rubín adapta al cómic El retablo de las maravillas, una de las obras que Miguel de Cervantes no vio representada en vida. Este entremés satírico y de gran carga autobiográfica juega con el binomio ficción-realidad y sirve para descubrir las conexiones que existen entre esta obra y la biografía de Cervantes.
