The study investigates the remediation of groundwater contaminated with nitro aromatic compounds (NACs), which are linked to munitions production and various commercial products. It specifically evaluates the use of a palladium (Pd) catalyst for reductive destruction of these contaminants, analyzing how pH and reductant concentration affect reaction rates. The findings reveal that catalyst performance can be hindered by high contaminant levels, particularly when using molecular hydrogen as a reductant. The research explores the potential of a catalytic reactor within a horizontal flow treatment well system.
