Im April 1914 fuhr August Macke zusammen mit seinen Künstlerfreunden Paul Klee und Louis Moilliet für zwei Wochen nach Tunesien. Auf dieser Reise entstanden die wunderbaren Aquarelle, die heute als der Höhepunkt seines Schaffens gelten.
