"I knew it was a book I needed to read" - VIVIENNE WESTWOOD. "His book explains complex scientific theory in a graspable way" - LILY ASHLEY. "This book is an important contribution... discussions of David Bohm, bioplasma, biophotons, and bioelectronics" - PROFESSOR ZBIGNIEW WOLKOWSKI, Sorbonne University, Paris. This work answers numerous scientific and esoteric questions about our reality, promising to revolutionize our understanding. It delves into the science of plasma, a fourth state of matter that underpins the other three: gas, liquid, and solid. Despite its significance, plasma has remained largely overlooked in popular science narratives, which have focused on relativity and quantum mechanics. Over 99% of the universe is composed of plasma, including two recently discovered Kordylewski Clouds between Earth and the Moon. The book reveals that plasma can exhibit characteristics resembling intelligence, potentially reshaping our search for extraterrestrial life. Bestselling author Robert Temple, who has studied plasma for decades and collaborated with leading scientists, including Nobel laureates, brings this fascinating subject to light. His insights may change how we perceive the universe and our place within it, igniting new discussions and explorations in science.

HarperCollins is proud to present its new range of best-loved, essential classics. 'It is thrifty to prepare today for the wants of tomorrow.' Living in Ancient Greece in the 5th Century BC, Aesop was said to be a slave and story-teller. His much-loved, enduring fables are revered the world over and remain popular as moral tales for children. With infamous vignettes, such as the race between the hare and the tortoise, the vain jackdaw, and the wolf in sheep's clothing, the themes of the fables remain as fresh today as when they were first told and give an insight into the Ancient Greek world.

We tend to think of ancient stories of visits to the Underworld - by, for example, Odysseus, Orpheus and Aeneas - as being poetic fictions, but in fact in the ancient world the Underworld was believed to be real place that actually existed. Unfortunately, this entrance to the Underworld was lost in the Dark Ages, and hasn't been rediscovered since - or at least until the 1960s. Recently Robert Temple heard a rumour that an archaeological expedition in 1962 HAD actually rediscovered the entrance near Baiia in Italy, but that the Italian authorities had forbidden exploration. While lobbying to be allowed to excavate, he researched all the classical sources relating to the Underworld and began to piece together what actually happened on these visits to the underworld - how waters in the ritual bathing that preceded entry would be full of hallucinogenic drugs, how a system of trap doors would be used to fake supernatural happenings and how the priests would quiz you as to what you'd experienced when you re-emerged - and if you didn't believe in it, they'd kill you! Netherworld is the extraordinary story of what Temple discovered when he did eventually get permission to make his own descent into the Underworld - including the river Styx, the false doors, the snake pit and carved invocations to the Goddess of the Underworld, all seen here for the first time since ancient civilization.
