    Roy Thomas es célebre por su trabajo pionero en el cómic, destacando como sucesor de Stan Lee en Marvel Comics. Se le atribuye la introducción del héroe pulp Conan el Bárbaro en los cómics estadounidenses, ampliando la narrativa del personaje e impulsando una tendencia de espada y brujería. Thomas también promovió a los héroes de la Edad de Oro del cómic, reviviendo al equipo de los años 40 Justice Society of America. Sus extensos créditos de escritura incluyen etapas influyentes en los X-Men y Avengers de Marvel, así como en All-Star Squadron de DC.
