After early international success with her all-female punk band Kleenex (later Liliput), Klaudia Schifferle (born 1955) recently returned to Zurich and has thrown herself with prolific zest into painting and drawing. Schifferle, a longstanding creative presence in Zurich, uses oil, acrylic, lacquer and marker pen to create images of mythical beasts and hybrid humans in dreamworld backdrops.
The Jindřich Waldes collection was confiscated and placed in the care of the State Collection of Old Masters in Prague in 1939. Although Waldes' heirs requested restitution of the collection in 1946, their claims were not settled before Feb. 1948 and the Waldes Collection was incorporated into the collections of the National Gallery in Prague. In 1996 the collection was returned to the heirs of Jindřich Waldes. In that same year Jiří Waldes, on behalf of the Waldes family, donated some of the works from the collection to the National Gallery in Prague in memory of his father.

Reprodukcemi obrazů bohatě dokumentovaná monografie sleduje umělecký vývoj výrazného představitele našeho současného malířství. Autorka jej charakterizuje jako "malíře lidských osudů, do nichž se mu promítají všechna dramata dne idoby, všechna pokojná spočinutí i radosti".
Der Schweizer Maler Karl Jakob Wegmann (1928–1997) war Geheimtipp und Ausnahmefigur. Zeitlebens wohnte er zurückgezogen in Zürich, wo er mit Vorliebe verlassene, dem Abbruch oder Umbau geweihte Herrschaftshäuser bezog. Im Kreis der von seinem Schriftstellerfreund Paul Nizon beschriebenen 'Zürcher Schule der kleinen Wahnwelt' galt er als Kultfigur. Schon mit 31 Jahren wurde er in der Zeitschrift Du zu den zwölf wichtigsten Nachkriegshoffnungen der Schweizer Kunst gezählt. Bis in die 1990er-Jahre schuf er poetische Gemälde, ab 1961 auch Kugelbilder. Wegmanns Bekanntheit in der Schweiz war gross und wurde durch seine damals stark beachtete urbanistische Vision 'Zürich Gambit' (1975–1980) weiter gesteigert. Dieses neue Buch der renommierten Kunstkritikerin Ludmila Vachtova konzentriert sich jedoch auf die umfangreiche Darstellung von Wegmanns malerischem Schaffen. Neben einem einordnenden Essay präsentiert es rund 150 Werke, überwiegend aus Privatsammlungen, die zum grossen Teil hier erstmals publiziert werden. Ergänzt werden die grossformatigen Werkabbildungen durch Faksimiles aus Wegmanns Notizbüchern, die einen atmosphärischen Einblick in seinen künstlerischen Alltag ermöglichen.
