Third (and final) volume of a trilogy which takes place in [formerly] Lithuanian Minsk from the spring of 1918 through 1919. This final volume embraces the period from the invasion of the Bolshevik army of Minsk until the liberation of the city by the Polish forces which took place on 9 August 1919. The story describes the daily life of the Minsk underworld. The author claims in the introduction to the book that the main character of the novel was a real person, and that the thieves and their hideouts, as depicted in the novel, are for the most part authentic.
