Más información sobre el libro
The book delves into the historical erasure of women's contributions, often overshadowed by their roles as wives and supporters of prominent men. Ann Oakley utilizes case studies of four notable women to challenge traditional narratives in history and biography, revealing how marriage has facilitated the 'disremembering' of their achievements. By examining various sources, she highlights the enduring mechanisms of gender inequality and offers insights into the development of the welfare state in the early 20th century, despite ongoing feminist movements.
