Jewish Women in the Early Italian Womens Movement, 18611945

Focusing on Jewish women's roles in the Italian women's movement, this study spans from Liberal Italy through the Fascist era, highlighting their experiences and struggles. Utilizing a range of sources, it reveals the complexities of their participation amid social marginalization and exclusion. The narrative illustrates how the 1938 racial laws were not an abrupt change but a culmination of ongoing tensions. Despite their impactful contributions, the emancipation of Italian-Jewish women remained unfulfilled, reflecting the dual challenges they faced as both women and Jews.
