The language invention of the famous Spanish surrealist remains modern and innovative. Greguerías is a specific literary form that straddles the boundaries of wisdom, aphorism, humor, wordplay, overheard phrases, linguistic paradoxes, and nonsense—these can all be considered gregerías, though they need not be. The first part of the book features an authorial essay that attempts to clarify what gregerías actually are, while the second part presents a new selection of these short, sometimes striking and other times poetic linguistic images. The unique graphic design and accompanying illustrations are created by the young artist Zdeněk Paták, whose artistic solutions are sure to surprise and engage readers.
