Más información sobre el libro

Alma returns to Trieste after fleeing to start anew, now to collect her father's unexpected inheritance. Her father, a charming yet elusive man, despised the past and its legacies, often disappearing across the border, leaving his life shrouded in mystery. In Trieste, Alma discovers a forgotten map of her life, including her childhood home on the avenue of plane trees, a refuge thanks to her maternal grandparents who upheld Central European traditions amidst the chaos of her father's world. She also revisits the house on the Karst, where her life changed with the arrival of Vili, the son of her father's friends from Belgrade. Vili, who became a brother, friend, and rival, is now the person from whom Alma must receive her father's inheritance. However, he is the last person she wishes to confront. As the three days leading up to Orthodox Easter unfold, they symbolize a turning point between her past—childhood, freedom, and the allure of her father's Yugoslavia—and an uncertain future.
