All the elephants of the jungle were gray except Elmer, who was a patchwork of brilliant colors until the day he got tired of being different and making the other elephants laugh.

Aided and abetted by his ventriloquist cousin, Wilbur, Elmer pretends to be blown away on the windiest day. They make fools of the other elephants, but when the laughter dies down, Elmer reassures them that a heavy elephant is safe in the worst of gales. When he tries to prove it, much to his surprise, he really does get blown away!

Elmer, the happy-go-lucky patchwork elephant is back! Elmer's cousin, Wilbur, is coming to visit and Elmer warns his friends that Wilbur likes to play tricks - he's a talented ventriloquist!
