Unter dem Patronat des Wiener Kardinals Christoph Schönborn und in Zusammenarbeit mit Jugendlichen entstand aus dem großen Katechismus der Katholischen Kirche (KKK) ein jugendgemäßes und modernes Lern- und Lebensbuch des Glaubens: der YOUCAT. Der von Jugendlichen mitgestaltete Jugendkatechismus erscheint parallel in 13 Sprachen der Welt und soll ein prägendes Element des Weltjugendtages in Madrid werden. In einem eigenen Vorwort wendete sich Papst Benedikt an die Jugendlichen der Welt und fordert sie auf: „Studiert den Katechismus. Das ist mein Herzenswunsch! … Studiert den Katechismus mit Leidenschaft und Ausdauer! Opfert Lebenszeit dafür! Studiert ihn in der Stille Eurer Zimmer! Lest ihn zu zweit, wenn Ihr befreundet seid! Bildet Lerngruppen und Netzwerke, tauscht Euch im Internet aus. Ihr müsst wissen, was Ihr glaubt!“
