Autor se v ní nevěnuje pouze posledním operacím 3. loďstva admirála Halseyho či bojům o Okinawu. Pozornost je věnována stále komplikovanějším politickým jednáním Spojenců v Postupimi i horečným snahám japonského generálního štábu pokusit se ubránit svou vlast před invazí, stranou pozornosti pochopitelně nezůstává ani svržení atomových pum na Hirošimu a Nagasaki. Popis výbuchu uranové pumy nad Hirošimou je převzat přímo z překladu oficiálních japonských dějin.
