Más información sobre el libro

Wilkie Collins is regarded as the pioneer of the modern English detective novel, particularly through his work that tells the story of young drawing teacher Walter Hartright. Hartright, not yet a professional detective, observes and investigates to uncover the mystery of the Woman in White. Laura, the young heiress of Limmeridge House, is engaged to Sir Percival. When Hartright falls in love with her, he is compelled to leave his position at the request of Laura's uncle, Mr. Frederick Fairlie. Just before his departure, Laura receives an anonymous letter warning her against marrying Sir Percival. In this critical moment, Hartright encounters the Woman in White once more. The thrilling tale surrounding the mysterious inheritance of Limmeridge unfolds to the very last line. Collins presents a Victorian love story while employing a modern narrative style: the protagonists gradually reveal the secret through intricate letters and reports. The novel was serialized in 1860 in Dickens' magazine and quickly became a bestseller.
