Santiago Posteguillo se dio a conocer con “Africanus”, la exitosa novela que iniciaba la estupenda trilogía sobre Publio Cornelio Escipión. Luego vendría una nueva trilogía sobre el emperador Trajano. Y, tras un paréntesis que no aportó gran cosa al prestigio del escritor (”Yo Julia” y “Y Julia retó a los dioses”), parece haber reemprendido el buen pulso con una serie sobre Julio César, de la que ha publicado las dos primeras novelas: “Roma soy yo” y “Maldita Roma”. Acabo de leer “Roma soy yo” y he podido comprobar que Posteguillo sigue dominando el buen ritmo de la narración, con momentos de cierto “suspense” a base de vueltas atrás en el hilo de la historia, profundizando en la caracterización de los personajes, y que continúa describiendo magistralmente las batallas, cosa nada fácil de conseguir. En esta primera entrega, predomina la parte novelada, porque de los primeros años de la vida pública de César no tenemos noticias fidedignas. La narración llega hasta el juicio a Dolabela, que supuso la primera aparición jurídica de Julio César. Como toda apreciación, ésta es subjetiva, pero creo que la novela gustará a los aficionados al género de la narrativa histórica. Y el personaje de César bien se merece unos cuantos cientos de páginas…
