Geophysical applications in geomorphology

Más información sobre el libro

The application of geophysical techniques has become essential in geomorphological studies, yet effectively handling instruments and processing data poses challenges. Accurate interpretation of geomorphological settings requires collaboration between geophysicists and geomorphologists; without it, the use of these techniques is often limited. While numerous textbooks exist in both fields, none focus on the interdisciplinary aspects of their integration. This special volume aims to bridge that gap and foster closer cooperation between researchers. It features ten papers that explore various geophysical techniques and their application in geomorphological studies, many of which were presented at the International Workshop held in Bonn, Germany, in February 2002. Participants included experts from Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and Norway. The workshop aimed to showcase geomorphic studies that effectively integrate geophysical techniques, evaluate their efficiency, provide a critical overview of modeling and software tools, and facilitate knowledge exchange among researchers. Additionally, a CD-ROM by Karl-Josef Sandmeier is included, featuring a test version of the REFLEXW software for processing and interpreting GPR and seismic data, along with introductions to seismic refraction data interpretation, modeling, and tomographic tools.
