The globalized world issues largely from the British Empire, whereby English has become the world language. The United States, sired by that Empire, have inherited the world leadership from Britain. The outstanding material success of Anglo-Saxon countries, however, is marred by moral disaster, hitting children particularly hard. Environmentalists wage a relentless psychological terror campaign against technological innovations that may threaten the vested interests of the worldwide financial and oil lobbies. Scientists bear a heavy responsibility in this terror campaign, as they get more visibility and money by contributing to ecological terror mongering. Globalization in itself is neither good nor evil, but is being distorted by these vested interests. The adoption of technological innovations such as intrinsically safe nuclear reactors and transport by magnetic levitation would greatly benefit Continental Europe, by cutting down to size the (mainly) Anglo-Saxon lobbies.
