Más información sobre el libro

Between 1496 and 1498, Albrecht Duerer created his world-famous series of powerfully dramatic prints based on the Apocalypse of John. Five hundred year later, over a period of fourteen years, the Austrian artist Gerhard Trieb engaged in his own dialogue, using this same theme. What began as a moment of artistic doubt led to the creation of an installation in sixteen variations. The front of each work is a reproduction of one of Duerer’s Apocalypse prints – covered with wax drippings that literally permeate and dissolve the original image. This makes space for Trieb's own monochrome black, non-figurative paintings on the back of the works. The text by Father Friedhelm Mennekes helps to interpret Trieb's words and images and place them in their proper context.
