Reconstruction of the Galactic Dark Matter Density

Focusing on the dark matter density distribution of the Milky Way, this thesis explores the role of weakly interacting massive particles, constrained by astronomical observations. It highlights the significance of the rotation curve, revealing that a ringlike dark matter component is essential to explain specific dips in the curve at 3 and 9 kpc from the center. This structure influences local dark matter density, crucial for direct detection experiments. Additionally, the study connects a slight GeV excess in gamma-ray spectra to potential dark matter annihilation, supporting the proposed density distribution.
