After retirement, Dr. Freeman began to attend Torah study classes with Rabbi Haim Beliak. Always a scientist and an agnostic, his poetry began to express a unique Jewish identity. He wrote about creation of the universe, mankind's journey through history and especially the story of the Jewish people. As he enters old age, he remembers the faces from his childhood, He contemplates death and offers an explanation of the meaning of life.
