The success of a product is determined by the market, and I am pleased that the first two editions of this book have sold out, prompting the publisher to request a third, revised edition. There remains a demand for “Matter and Methods at Low Temperatures,” nearly 15 years after the first edition's release. In preparation for this revision, I consulted over 20 expert colleagues for their recommendations. Their feedback emphasized three main points: maintain the core content, add more information on material properties at temperatures above 1K, and include details on suppliers of low-temperature equipment. In addition to addressing these recommendations, I have incorporated all relevant new information and developments that have emerged since the second edition was published over a decade ago. I sourced this information primarily from journals such as the “Journal of Low Temperature Physics,” “Review of Scientific Instruments,” and “Cryogenics,” as well as from the proceedings of various International Conferences on Low Temperature Physics held in cities like Prague, Helsinki, Hiroshima, and Orlando, along with the International Symposium on Quantum Fluids and Solids in locations including Ithaca, Paris, and Minneapolis. The latter proceedings have also been published in the Journal of Low Temperature Physics.
