Más información sobre el libro

This collection of essays and monographs was presented to Professor Henry-Louis de La Grange on his seventieth birthday, 26 May 1994. Widely recognized as a leading figure in Mahler research, Professor de La Grange began his exploration of Mahler in the early 1950s, at a time when the composer’s works were largely overlooked. His personal interactions with Alma Mahler and her daughter Anna fueled his ambition to become Mahler's biographer. The publication of the first part of his biography in 1973 established his reputation, showcasing his meticulous attention to detail and extensive research. In 1986, he co-founded the Bibliothèque Musicale Gustav Mahler in Paris, which has become a vital resource for Mahler studies and classical music research, housing a vast collection of sources and documents. The idea of compiling a Festschrift for de La Grange was embraced by Mahler scholars worldwide, resulting in contributions that reflect a rich diversity of thought. This publication aims to honor his lifelong dedication to Mahler research while also serving as a significant academic contribution in its own right. The essays are presented in English, German, and French.
