Más información sobre el libro

Middleware is ubiquitous in distributed systems, especially in Internet applications, which increasingly rely on middleware platforms. Since the introduction of sockets and virtual circuit abstractions, researchers have sought to integrate valuable concepts into these systems. Before 1998, significant conferences like ICODP, ICDP, and SDNE showcased middleware research. Middleware’98 synthesized these events, while Middleware 2000 continued this tradition, offering a platform for sharing cutting-edge results in distributed systems. The focus was on the design, implementation, deployment, and evaluation of architectures for future networked environments. From 70 initial submissions, 21 papers were selected for the conference's technical program, each reviewed by four program committee members. Papers were evaluated based on originality, presentation quality, and relevance to the conference themes. The accepted works addressed diverse topics, including caching, reflection, quality of service, and transactions, reflecting the ongoing evolution and importance of middleware in distributed computing.
