The 10th International Conference on the Principles and Practice of Constraint Programming (CP 2003) took place in Toronto, Canada, from September 27 to October 1, 2004. The conference focused on constraint programming (CP), which encompasses problem modeling, solving, optimization, software engineering, and more, intersecting with fields such as mathematics, operations research, artificial intelligence, and computer science. CP's relevance is underscored by its successful applications in industry and government, reflecting the vibrant research community surrounding it. This year, from 158 submissions, 46 papers were chosen for full publication, alongside 16 short papers presented as posters. Instead of selecting one best paper, four "distinguished" papers were highlighted, although many others were also deserving of recognition. The volume includes summaries of four invited talks, featuring prominent figures from both industry and academia. Notably, Helmut Simonis from Parc Technologies and Jean François Puget from ILOG represented the industrial perspective, while the other two speakers are influential researchers in the CP field. The proceedings capture the excitement and growth of constraint programming as a dynamic area of study.
