This book is the product of the international cooperation of many experts on oak nomenclature. Approximately 15 000 botanical oak names have been recorded in alphabetical order, checked against the current International Code of Botanical Nomenclature. Valid names and synonyms have been listed. The average number of synonyms is over 10 in relation to valid names. This book lists all found or used botanical names of oaks. It lists consequently also those names spelled incorrectly, names used in nurseries, and names without known authorship. Names for genera, species, subspecies, varieties, forms, cultivars.
