Más información sobre el libro

Supply networks in the automotive industry are complex and diversified, particularly as globalization leads to increased geographical separation in production, assembly, and distribution processes. A critical aspect of these processes is the delivery and flow of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) parts. While CKD may initially appear as a form of global sourcing, it serves a broader purpose in supplying original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with necessary components. The selection of CKD suppliers is typically centralized and controlled by the parent company, meaning OEMs can only procure CKD parts from approved suppliers. This centralization transforms CKD into a strategic approach for balancing group interests in globally localized production. The primary aim of this research is to integrate CKD processes into general process simulation tools within the automotive sector. The study utilizes OTD–NET (Order to Delivery), a data-based simulation tool developed by the Fraunhofer IML and the automotive industry in the 1990s, to evaluate the integration structure. OTD-NET enables the simulation of all processes from order to delivery. The dissertation presents various CKD simulation topics that can assist international automotive manufacturers and aid decision-makers in selecting the most suitable CKD strategy at different development stages. The methodology proposed demonstrates significant practical value for enhancing CKD supply
