Chemical industry is based on synthesis of target molecules, which is followed by separation processes performed to obtain these components in the purity required. In this thesis, several aspects of the problem of separating mixtures are studied. Since nowadays a large demand for pure enantiomers is recognized, particularly in the pharmaceutical, agricultural and food industries, as an example the separation of chiral compounds is considered. In order to separate enantiomeric mixtures, techniques like membrane separation, chromatography or selective preferential crystallization can be applied.
