From 2009 to 2011, Schirm Kunsthalle presented more than 50 performances, happenings, installations, workshops, markets, rallies and demonstrations in Frankfurt downtown center.The 58 international artists involved shared the aim of interacting with the public, often by turning bystanders into participants themselves. The project incorporates important artistic strands from earlier in the 20th century from Dada and Fluxus to the Situationists with those characterized as social turn, or the community based art currently in vogue.
