Más información sobre el libro

International investment law protects rights of investors, but its application often implicates public interests protected by human rights law, environmental law and/or domestic public law. The interaction between ‘international investment law and its others’ has prompted much debate recently and has revealed a considerable degree of uncertainty. The contributions to the present volume systematically address the most important aspects of the interaction. They show that investment protection can indeed have a negative impact on human rights, environmental law and domestic law. However, the interaction is not a one-way street: international investment law is not sealed off, but increasingly open to arguments based on human rights, environmental law and domestic law. In engaging with these arguments, investment law itself changes: it is not monolithic, but responds to the challenge of ‘its others’.
