Más información sobre el libro

Much academic writing on Mod culture has concentrated on its emergence in late 1950s London and the subsequent cultural practices, particularly the sensationalism created by tabloid media during the Mods and Rockers clashes in 1964. However, the perspectives of the participants have often been overlooked. Since the late 1970s, several countries have experienced a Mod revival, yet recent academic interest in contemporary Mod culture remains limited. While many authors focus on local scenes, this work uniquely explores what Mod signifies for its participants across various regions, including Europe, the US, Japan, and parts of Asia and Latin America. It is the first study to examine the evolution of Mod's media representation over the past forty years and how Mods utilize media, especially the Internet. This research, conducted by Christiane Deibel between 2005 and 2009, intersects with English, cultural, and media studies as well as computer-mediated communication. Despite her insider perspective, Deibel presents a nuanced and engaging contribution to the discourse on subcultural formations, making this book both accessible and thought-provoking.
